THAILAND FESTIVAL
OF THE ARTS

The Thailand Festival of the Arts by Volvo, from January 12-26, 1997, was Thailand's first annual International Arts Festival featuring the world's finest classical, jazz, ethnic and crosscultural music and dance by some of the most famous and legendary artists in the world.

Celebrities such as Chico and the Gypsies (formerly the Gipsy Kings), Nina Corti, Ravi Shankar, the Vienna Mozart Trio, Kangsadan- Yok Rop & Boy Thai, the South German Youth Jazz Orchestra and the outstanding Chinese Pianist Xiang Dong Kong took part in the festival held in the beautiful and authentic Thai settings of Chulalongkorn University.

Following the huge success of 1997 we were proud to announce the 2nd THAILAND FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS by VOLVO.

As the he inaugural 1997 Festival had seen enthusiastic standing ovations from Bangkok audiences, the announcement of the second Festival firmly placed the event as an annual institution in Bangkok's cultural life.

Selections of Suriyothai

THE SPIRIT OF SURIYOTHAI is the new and much awaited soundtrack album featuring the serene Thai selections of the epic Thai hit movie SURIYOTHAI by M.C. Chatrichalerm Yukol. The release is produced by AMI RECORDS and will be officially released on Monday, March 18, 2002.

Famous British film composer Richard Harvey has compiled this excellent selection of the famous and popular Thai melodies of the film score. The many fans of the already legendary movie who have been eagerly waiting for this selection will indeed be highly rewarded for their patience.

This superb quality recording is probably the most brilliant recording of authentic and orchestrated Thai music ever. The truly moving moods reflect the serene and touching moments of the historic film. An excellent example of Thai music being masterly integrated into a western orchestral environment.

Yet another highlight of this outstanding album is the thrilling new instrumental version of the hit song NOW & FOREVER, SURIYOTHAI performed by HUCKY & HARVEY, two well known celebrities in their own respect.

The album is available as CD (AMICD 2002-07) and music cassette (AMIMC 2002-08) and will be available in all good music stores in Bangkok, including NONG TA PRACHAN, CD Warehouse, MUSIC ONE, MANG PONG, and the major provincial cities throughout the country.
